January Sewing/Crafting: Just Under The Wire

Remember when I said I wanted to complete a crafty project a month this year?  And that the first thing I wanted (needed) to complete was cutting and hemming some drapes?  And that it wasn't exactly what I would call a fun craft?

Well, as expected -- by me, anyway -- I put it off and put it off until January was almost in the books.  I finally got the job done yesterday, just in the nick of time.  Thank you, dear blog readers!  If I didn't have you to be accountable to, all eight panels (our bedroom and Kat's) would still be dragging the floor.

I promise to be more punctual with my next project.  I'll succeed by default since there are only 29 days this month!

Good job! What do you have planned for February?!

The sewing part was super easy on these. It was the pressing of the hem and trying to get all the factory creases out that took up all my time.

My February project is to finish a crocheted afghan for my daughter and son-in-law. I started it in July of 2009! It's been sitting at about 855 to 90% done for months now. It's really colorful and pretty, but I'm tired of it. I just need to set my mind to finishing it.

There you go...holding me accountable again. :)
Very nice sewing job!! I moved one of my sewing machines out in the open so I can see it --therefore, use it---but that hasn't happened just yet. It's been so long since I've sewn anything that I'm not sure where to start. Can't wait to see the afghan. Take care.

Oh, how I wish I had room to leave my sewing machine out. I'm certain I'd use it more often. That is what our room downstairs is supposed to be for when we finally get it done. Shane started it a couple of years ago when he had some time off in the winter and hasn't had much of a chance to work on it since. I guess that's ok, though, since it means he's had steady work without lay-offs.
Nice job! :-) Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a nice comment! Putting my pantry out there with the befores was nerve wracking, lol. But I always have more things to come! Have a great week!

Blessings,
Jill P.S. I'm following back :-)

Thanks for following me :). I actually like putting before pictures out. It reminds me how much difference a little time and effort can make.
Great job! I can't wait to see the afghan!

This is exactly what I need...all of you holding my feet to the fire until I get that afghan done! LOL!
The drapes look great! Can't wait to see the afghan. I've been finishing some projects that have been sitting around for a very long while, too. I always have to push myself to get started on them again, but once they are finished it feels like quite an accomplishment!

It does feel good to finish things, although it's usually a struggle for me. At least now, I recognize this about myself and can push through. In the past I just thought I was flighty or fickle because I always think of new things to BEGIN almost as soon as I start a project. I'm a good initiator, by nature. I hope to become a good finisher, by discipline. :)
WOW, they look really great! I can barely sew a button on!

You should try velcro instead. ;)

Seriously, though buttons and hemming things (like curtains) falls under the category of mending, IMO, and I don't like mending much at all.
